About this steering meeting template

A steering committee exists to make decisions, yet many meetings get eaten by status updates. This steering committee meeting agenda puts progress first, then risks and open questions, then the decisions for today. Its discussion slide asks the one question that matters: what decision do we need from this group today?

The first poll lets members pick which item needs the most time, from financials to risks. An anonymous poll shows whether people feel the work is ahead, on track or behind. The last asks members to approve, approve with changes, or ask for more information. It suits project sponsors, PMO leads and board-style groups.

When to use it

  • Monthly or quarterly steering meetings for a large project
  • Getting a clear go or no-go on a proposal from senior people
  • Spending the meeting on decisions instead of a slide-by-slide project status update

How to use it

  1. Use this template. All 10 slides land in your Slides, free. Edit the text on any slide, change any question, or add your own slides from a PDF.
  2. Run it. On a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call, people answer in the meeting chat. In a room, they scan a QR code and answer on their phones. No app for anyone.
  3. See the room. Results land live, only you see who’s gone quiet, and a summary is ready when it ends.

A steering committee agenda usually covers progress, risks, decisions needed and actions. This template orders them so decisions get real time, and ends with next steps: record the decisions, follow up on risks and report back.
