Slido and Mentimeter are the two best-known tools for getting an audience to answer live. They overlap a lot, so the choice comes down to what your session is built around.
Pick Slido when the questions matter most: town halls, all-hands and conferences where hundreds of people ask and upvote, often inside a PowerPoint or Google Slides deck you already have. Pick Mentimeter when the slides matter most and you want results, like a word cloud, building on the big screen. If you run workshops or trainings on a video call and want people to answer without leaving it, neither is a great fit; there's more on that below.
We make Claryoo, which comes up at the end. The Slido and Mentimeter facts here come from their own pricing pages, checked on 13 October 2026.

How they differ
Slido: built for questions
Slido started as a Q&A tool and it shows. People join with a code, link or QR code without signing up, ask questions anonymously or with their name, and upvote the ones they want answered. On the Professional plan and above, you can review questions before anyone sees them, which matters for a CEO town hall.
Polls, quizzes, word clouds and surveys are all there too. Slido doesn't ask you to rebuild your presentation: it adds polls and Q&A into PowerPoint and Google Slides, and has a Zoom app on every plan.
Mentimeter: built for the presentation
Mentimeter is a presentation tool first. You build the deck in Mentimeter, or import slides on a paid plan, and mix in interactive slides: multiple choice, word clouds, quizzes, scales, open text and Q&A. The audience goes to menti.com, types the code and answers, and results appear live on the slide you're sharing.
The strength is how visible the interaction is. A word cloud growing on the big screen is a real moment in a talk or lecture.
Free plans compared
| Price | Free forever, one person | Free |
| Participant limit | 100 per event | 50 a month, across all presentations |
| Polls and quizzes | 3 polls and 1 quiz per event | 23 slide types |
| Audience Q&A | Yes, with upvotes | Yes |
| PowerPoint and Google Slides | Yes, plus Zoom | Slide import from Basic, embedding on Pro |
| Data export | No | No |
| Moderate questions | No | No |
For one larger event a month, Slido's free plan goes further: 100 people in a single session. For many small sessions with a short poll each, it's closer, but Mentimeter's monthly cap of 50 runs out after a couple of workshops.
Paid plans compared
Both bill yearly. Slido's prices were shown to us in euros, so check slido.com/pricing for your currency; Mentimeter's are per presenter, see mentimeter.com/plans.
| Tool | Plan | Price a month | Participants | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Engage | €15 | 200 per event | Unlimited polls and quizzes, surveys, data exports | |
| Professional | €60 | 1,000 per event | Question moderation, branding, privacy controls, organization analytics | |
| Enterprise | €150 | 5,000 per event | Single sign-on | |
| Basic | $11.99 | Unlimited | Slide import, private presentations, results export | |
| Pro | $24.99 | Unlimited | Branding, moderated Q&A, participant names, embedding, co-editing | |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Single sign-on, LMS integrations, admin controls |
Slido limits participants per event by plan, so a bigger audience means a bigger plan. Mentimeter's paid plans have no participant cap. If your audiences are large and you mainly need polls, Mentimeter Basic usually costs less. If you need moderated Q&A for a big event, compare Slido Professional with Mentimeter Pro.
Which is better for...
| Session | Better pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Town halls and all-hands | Upvoted, moderated Q&A is what it does best | |
| Conferences | ||
| Lectures and classrooms | Build the lesson as an interactive deck | |
| Training with a second device | Either | |
| Polls in your existing PowerPoint deck | Works inside the deck on every plan | |
| Workshops and trainings on a video call | Neither | See below |
What about Kahoot?
People often compare Kahoot with both. Kahoot is a game: players join with a PIN and race the clock for points and a spot on the podium. Pick it when competition and energy are the goal, like team events and classroom review. It's less suited to gathering opinions or questions. See Claryoo vs Kahoot.
When neither fits
Slido and Mentimeter both ask people to open a second screen, go to a site and type a code. In a big room, that's fine. On a video call, it's where people get stuck or drift off, and in a workshop the poll results are only half of what you need afterward.
That's the gap Claryoo is built for. It's an AI co-host that joins your Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call as a participant.
| On a video call | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Where people answer | Slido's Zoom app panel, or slido.com on a second device | menti.com with a code, on a second device | The meeting chat, by typing a letter |
| Who's engaged and who went quiet | No | No | Yes, on your side only |
| After the session | Results and analytics | Results export | Decisions and follow-ups by name, plus results |
| In a room | Code, link or QR | Code at menti.com | QR code on phones |
| Word clouds | Yes | Yes | No |

Claryoo isn't the right pick for everything. It has no word clouds and isn't a slide-design tool, and for a 2,000-person town hall Q&A, Slido is the better fit.
Claryoo has a free plan with 2 session hours a month; Starter $19 a month for 8 hours; Pro $39 a month for 25 hours. You pay for session hours, not seats, and participants never pay. Every account starts with a 14-day Pro trial, no card. Compare in detail: Claryoo vs Slido and Claryoo vs Mentimeter.
FAQ
Is Slido better than Mentimeter?
Neither is better overall. Slido is stronger for audience Q&A and for adding polls to slides you already have. Mentimeter is stronger for building an interactive presentation with results on the big screen.
Is Slido free?
Yes. The Basic plan is free forever, with up to 100 participants, 3 polls and 1 quiz per event. Data exports and question moderation are on paid plans.
Is Mentimeter free?
Yes. The Free plan includes Q&A and 23 slide types, with 50 participants a month. Paid plans remove the participant limit.
Which is cheaper, Slido or Mentimeter?
Mentimeter Basic is $11.99 a month billed yearly with no participant cap. Slido's first paid plan, Engage, was listed at €15 a month billed annually, for up to 200 participants per event. For large audiences, Mentimeter usually costs less.
Which is better for Zoom meetings?

Can I use Slido or Mentimeter with PowerPoint?
Yes. Slido adds polls, quizzes and Q&A into PowerPoint on every plan. Mentimeter lets you import slides from the Basic plan and embed in PowerPoint Web on Pro.
